Motorola Moto Z3 Play receives closed Android P beta in China

Moto Z3 Play

Android P was announced by Google back in March. Since then, we have seen the release of Android P DP2 (which was the first Android P beta), followed by the release of Android P DP3 (also known as Android P Beta 2). This year, Google is following a new system of development. In previous year, betas of upcoming Android versions were restricted to Google devices, but this year, Google made Android P beta available to third-party devices as well.

The list of third-party devices that have received Android P beta include the OnePlus 6, Essential Phone, Oppo R15 Pro, Vivo X21, Nokia 7 Plus, and the Sony Xperia XZ2. Closed Android P beta is also now available for the Nokia 7, Nokia 6.1, and the Nokia 8 Sirocco in China. However, Motorola has been missing from this list of OEMs that have released Android P beta for some of their phones.

This may be about to change now as a TechDroider report states that Google is testing Android P beta for the Motorola Moto Z3 Play. A Moto Z3 Play has reportedly received a closed beta of Android P DP3, although there is no exact date on when the company is going to release the beta for the device. It is also unclear if Motorola and Google have plans to bring the Android P beta to other Motorola devices.

The report has been updated with new information, which states that Motorola is testing the closed Android P beta build in China, and it's planning to roll the beta for the international Moto Z3 Play soon.

The Motorola Moto Z3 Play was announced this month with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 system-on-chip, 4GB of RAM paired with 32GB/64GB of storage, 6-inch Full HD+ (2160×1080) AMOLED display, dual 12MP + 5MP (depth sensing rear cameras), 8MP front-facing camera, and a 3000mAh battery. The phone ships with stock Android 8.1 Oreo. Android P beta brings many UI changes as well as new navigation gestures, so it's good to see Motorola working on bringing it to its newest upper mid-range phone.
